The competition received about 100 applications this year, from which 18 teams reached the semi-final and 6 presented at the final in the Tattersall.

The entry was Vulcan, the company’s temperature stage for microscopy, which holds a sample anywhere from −10°C to 80°C at the microscope with a stability of ±0.1°C at steady state.

The StartAward Wiesbaden is run by the economic development office of the Landeshauptstadt Wiesbaden together with local sponsors and partners. The 2026 prizes, in two categories and a Female Founders special prize, came to more than €30,000.
